Q & A

Who are your clients?

My clients are families that want more than the traditional posed family portrait. They want family photos with honest emotions and real connections. Someone who finds beauty in the chaos of family life. I will guide you every step of the way through our family photo session with direction and prompts that will make time together fun and create magical images that you will cherish.

What are your sessions like?

We will have fun. We will play and dance and smile and laugh. Of course there might be tears too, because, well, kids! Through it all I will be there documenting your family’s story. I will take some posed photos, so don’t worry if you really want a few with everyone looking at the camera, but I will mostly be trying to capture those real moments when your family is just being themselves together. My sessions are usually 1-2 hours in length with newborn photo sessions typically taking longer as we pace ourselves around the needs of a new babe.

Where will my session take place?

It’s up to you! I’m a huge fan of sessions that take place at home. There are so many reasons that I love taking family photos at home, but mostly because it is the place where you (and your kiddos!) feel most comfortable and are able to be the most natural in front of the camera. And when we are at ease, our true beautiful self will shine through. That’s when the magic happens. Capturing your story in the home you have created as a family is just beautiful.

That being said, I am a Colorado girl who loves being outside, and I completely understand if you want to capture the beauty of the outdoors in your family photos. I have a bunch of places in the Denver area (up to 45 min outside the city) where I love to do outdoor photo sessions. I’m also up for new adventures and love to travel, so I’m happy to check out new locations! There is an additional travel fee for locations more than 50 miles from Shannon Jockel Photography.

What if my kids won’t cooperate?

Listen, I get it. I’m a mom to small kiddos and a former elementary school teacher. Kids have their moments. We all do right? No worries. My sessions are relaxed and fun. We take breaks. I have lots of games we will play and prompts to help keep the kids moving and smiling. Besides, real emotion creates great images. In fact, some of my clients favorite photos come from those challenging moments.

What will my session cost?

My collections for family photography sessions start at $495. All of my collections include digital files, and I offer prints, canvases, and albums as add-on items. Contact me and I will send over more information about my photo collections and prices.

When will my images be ready?

Three to four weeks after your session you will be able to view your images in a password protected online gallery. From there your digital files will be available for immediate download.

When should I book?

As early as possible! I tend to book out at least a month or two in advance, especially in the fall! Please don’t hesitate to contact me because I do sometimes have immediate openings.

Any other questions?

Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you. I have a welcome document I can send right over with more information about family and newborn sessions as well as pricing for collections.
